About the event
The Kaira Looro Architecture Competition 2026 is an international, fully non-profit architecture competition promoting humanitarian and socially responsible design in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The 2026 edition invites architects, students, designers, engineers, and young professionals to propose a Community Center in rural southern Senegal, a multifunctional space dedicated to education, culture, social life, and community development.
Projects must follow a humanitarian self-construction approach, prioritizing local materials, simple construction techniques, and sustainable solutions. The competition reinvests 100% of its proceeds into real humanitarian projects carried out by Balouo Salo.
The event features a world-class international jury and offers winners prestigious prizes, internships, and global visibility.
